The Event

Chianti in Musica has been held since 2006 in San Donato in Poggio, a wonderful medieval village halfway between Florence and Siena, for one week, between July and August. Every year the event consists of instrument and ensemble music courses, musical aperitifs, and concerts.

Palazzo Malaspina - a late Renaissance building recovered and valorized through an important restoration project by the Municipality of Tavarnelle Val di Pesa - hosts the courses and the secretariat of Chianti in Musica. The elementary school of San Donato in Poggio, on the other hand, hosts the students for study.
The Teatro del Circolo della Filarmonica is the venue for piano lessons.

Every evening, at 6.30 pm, San Donato in Poggio is enlivened by musical aperitifs, informal concerts of the students of the courses - free and open to the public, which for some years have been held in the Romanesque church of Santa Maria della Neve, next to Palazzo Malaspina -, always followed by a tasting of Chianti wines.
The course teachers have offered an evening concert every year to citizens, tourists, and their students. Since 2016 they have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with the best students in the course.

On the occasion of the closing concert of the event, the Orchestra of Chianti in Musica, formed by the students of the courses directed by Maestro Carlo De Martini, goes on stage.

In 2022 Chianti in Musica will be held in its XVI edition.
