About us

Chianti in Musica Chianti in Musica takes place in San Donato in Poggio, a wonderful medieval village halfway between Florence and Siena, which since 2023 has been part of the Borghi più Belli d’Italia.

The event takes place over 7/10 days between the end of July and the beginning of August. Since 2006, it has offered instrument and ensemble music courses, musical aperitifs, and concerts.

Palazzo Malaspina - a late Renaissance building recovered and enhanced through a major restoration project by the Municipality of Barberino Tavarnelle - hosts the courses and secretariat of Chianti in Musica. The primary school of San Donato in Poggio hosts the students for study.
The Theatre of the Philharmonic Circle is the venue for the piano masterclass lessons.

From 26 July to 1 August 2023, at 9.30 p.m. in the church of S. Maria della Neve will be held Festival Chianti in Musica concerts, in which the participants in the Piano and Chamber Music Masterclass - students in their final academic years or young concert performers at the beginning of their careers - will offer programmes drawn from the vast piano and chamber music repertoire, together with works from all eras, from the baroque to the contemporary.

From 30 July to 4 August 2023, at 6.30 p.m. the suggestive Porta Fiorentina in San Donato in Poggio comes alive with musical aperitifs, concerts by the best students of the flute, clarinet, oboe, violin, viola, cello, and guitar classes. A tasting offered by the Consorzio Vini Chianti Classico follows.

On Wednesday, 2 August, the course teachers will perform in concert at the Porta Fiorentina.

In 2023 Chianti in Musica will be held in its 17th edition.
