GUITAR, Francesco Biraghi

Biraghi-a

Francesco Biraghi started his musical studies with Antonio Barbieri and obtained his diploma from the “G. Verdi” Conservatory of Milan under the guidance of Ruggero Chiesa. This was followed by advance studies with Oscar Ghiglia and, for the baroque repertoire, with Hopkinson Smith. Even before he finished his studies, Francesco started his concert career; above all his participation in chamber music ensembles has brought him to perform worldwide.

Francesco has also made numerous broadcasts for the radio and the television, and has held seminars and conferences on the guitar and chamber music. Since 1986, he collaborates with the guitar magazine ‘Il Fronimo’; and is also author of theater programs and record booklets. Since 2004, Francesco presents musical programs for Sky’s ‘Classica’ channel. He is often invited to be part of the jury panel in national and international guitar competitions. His own recordings are well received by the public and critics.

In 2000 Francesco created and coordinated a ‘Paganiniana Marathon’ at the Conservatory of Novara. Francesco teachers the guitar since 1982; and is currently Professor of guitar at the Conservatory of Milan.
