Maria Grazia Bellocchio has completed her musical studies at the “G. Verdi” Conservatory of Milan with Antonio Beltrami and Chiaralberta Pastorelli, gaining her diploma with full marks and praise as well as special mention of honors. She continued her studies at “Hochschule” of Berna with Karl Engel and in Milan with Franco Gei.
In her first public performances, she played the concerto of Scriabin with the RAI Orchestra of Milan, piano concert n.1 of Beethoven with the Orchestra of the Milan Conservatory and the Symphony Orchestra of Sicily and ‘Les Noces’ of Stravinsky at the Municipal Theatre of Bologna. This was followed by performances, as a soloist, with the Chamber Orchestra of Pesaro, Milano Classica, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Toscanini Orchestra of Parma, the Chamber Orchestra of Padua and the ‘G. Verdi’ Symphony Orchestra of Milan. She has been invited to be part of the Schleswig Holstein Orchestra Music Festival directed by Leonard Bernstein.
Maria Grazia plays regularly with important Italian and foreign concert organisations: Amici della Musica of Padua, Perugia, Florence, Palermo, Siracusa, Pescara, Campobasso, Sulmona, Mestre, Messina and Vicenza; Settembre Musica of Torino, MITO-Milan, Autunno Musicale of Como, the Municipal Theatre of Bologna and Ferrara, the Regio Theatre of Parma, Società Barattelli of Aquila, Teatro Grande of Brescia, Teatro Bibiena of Mantua, University of Bologna and Ferrara, Teatro Donizetti of Bergamo, Società dei Concerti of Milan, Musica nel nostro tempo, Milano Musica, Rec Festival, New Music of Middelburg, Klangforum di Viennasuch, University of Valparaiso (Chile), the Gulbenkian Foundation of Lisbon, the Strasbourg Music Festival, ‘Festival Présences’ of Paris, ‘Biennale’ of Venice, ‘Printemps des Arts’ of Monte-Carlo.
She has collaborated in chamber music ensemble with musicians as Ingo Goritzki, Han de Vries, Renate Greis, Wolfgang Mayer, William Bennet, Sergio Azzolini, Rocco Filippini, Franco Petracchi, Elizabeth Norberg Schulz, Salvatore Accardo and Bruno Giuranna. She plays piano duets with Stefania Redaelli.
Maria Grazia’s repertoire ranges from Bach to young composers of contemporary music. She collaborates regularly with ‘Divertimento Ensemble’ directed by Sandro Gorli, appearing in major music festivals both in Italy and Europe.
Maria Grazia has recorded a number of CDs for the Ricordi and Stradivarius labels with works of Bruno Maderna, Mauro Cardi, Giulio Castagnoli, Sandro Gorli, Franco Donatoni, Matteo Franceschini, Stefano Gervasoni and Ivan Fedele.
Maria Grazia is Professor of piano at Bergamo’s Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “G. Donizetti” and regularly holds piano masterclasses dedicated to both classical and contemporary repertoires.
