VIOLA, Gianni de Rosa

He graduated in viola with full marks under the guidance of Angelo Bartoletti at the Conservatorio G. Verdi in Milan, where he also studied composition with Ivan Fedele. He held the position of first viola in the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano G. Verdi from 1994 to 1999, under the guidance of internationally renowned conductors and soloists, including R. Muti, G. Prêtre, C. M. Giulini, R. Chailly, G. Noseda, S. Accardo, T. Varga, and E. Dindo. He has also collaborated with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and, more recently, with the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI. He regularly performs in chamber ensembles with a repertoire ranging from the classical period to the 20th century, avant-garde and contemporary music. He still collaborates with Le Concert des Nations, conducted by J. Savall. After his debut in 1991, he toured with this ensemble in Europe, the USA, South America, and Asia, also as the first viola and soloist. As the first viola, he has collaborated with the Accademia Bizantina, Ensemble Zefiro, I Barocchisti, La Risonanza, Europa Galante, Il Giardino Armonico, Kammerorchester Basel and Gabetta Consort.

In 2011, with violinist Liana Mosca and cellist Marcello Scandelli, he founded Il Furibondo String Trio, performing in Italy and abroad and producing several recording projects, including "J.S.Bach/W.A. Mozart, Preludes and Fugues" and "Max Reger, String Trios". In addition to Astrée Auvidis and Aliavox, he has numerous recordings to his credit for Decca, Naïve, Opus 111, Glossa, Arts, Chandos, Stradivarius, and RTSI multimedia. Preludes and Fugues» e «Max Reger, String Trios». He teaches viola and baroque viola at the Civica Scuola di Musica 'Claudio Abbado' in Milan.
